INJECTABLE SOLUTION

Composition:

Each ml solution contains:

100 mg oxytetracycline hydrochloride.

Spectrum of activity:

Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic, with bacteriostatic action against a large number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, (like streptococci, staphylococci, Pasteurella spp., Brucella spp., Corynebacteria spp., Actinobacillus spp., Eperythrozoon spp., Bordetella spp., Ehrlichia spp., coliforms, Salmonella spp.) and spirochetes, mycoplasmas, Rickettsiae spp., Chlamydia spp. and some protozoa. Activity against Pseudomonas-, Proteus- and Klebsiella spp. is low. The bacteriostatic effect is based on the inhibition of the synthesis of bacterial proteins.

After parenteral application, oxytetracycline penetrates very quickly into the blood and the tissues, producing high concentrations there. Since a relatively large percentage of oxytetracycline is bound to serum proteins, therapeutic levels remain in the body for fairly long times, and therefore one injection per 24 hours is sufficient.

Indications:

Infections caused by micro-organisms susceptible to oxytetracycline, like respiratory infections, gastro-enteritis, metritis, mastitis, salmonellosis, dysentery, foot rot, sinusitis, urinary-tract infections, mycoplasmosis, CRD (chronic respiratory disease), blue comb, shipping fever, and liver abscesses in cattle, horses, pigs, sheep, goats and poultry.

Contra-indications:

Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines, serious kidney and/or liver disturbances, combination with penicillins or cephalosporins, use between 5 days before till 5 days after vaccination.

Side-effects:

Hypersensitivity reactions, irritation at injection site.
